High-Bandwidth Transmission for Modern Networks
Fiber optic cables are the core transmission medium for modern communication networks, industrial automation, power dispatching, and security surveillance. Compared to traditional copper cables, fiber optics offer enormous bandwidth, extremely long transmission distances, complete immunity to electromagnetic interference, and small size with light weight. A single modern fiber optic cable can simultaneously carry thousands of phone calls, hundreds of high-definition video streams, or massive amounts of industrial data. The first step in fiber optic cable selection is determining the fiber type. Single-mode fiber (SM) has a core of only 9μm. It transmits signals in a single mode. Attenuation is very low at 1310nm (≤0.36dB/km) and 1550nm (≤0.22dB/km). Transmission distance reaches tens to hundreds of kilometers. It supports 10G/100G/400G ultra-high-speed transmission. Main types include G.652D (general long-distance), G.657 (bend-insensitive, ideal for FTTH), and G.655 (DWDM long-haul trunk lines). Single-mode fiber is the primary choice for outdoor long-haul trunk lines, 5G base station interconnection, metropolitan area networks, and cross-regional data interconnection.
New fiber optic cable products include multi-mode fiber (MM). The core is 50/62.5μm. Multiple modes transmit signals. Dispersion is higher and distance is shorter (10G only 550m). Connection costs are lower. Multi-mode suits equipment rooms, building internal networks, and data center short-distance interconnection. OM3/OM4 are 10G multi-mode standards.


Cable Structure Options
Outdoor types (GY prefix) and indoor types (GJ/GR prefix) have clear differences. GYTA (loose tube aluminum sheath) is the main type for metropolitan area duct and standard aerial installation. GYTS (steel tape armor) suits light rodent protection and shallow direct burial. GYTA53 (double steel tape, double sheath) is for dedicated direct burial with compression and termite resistance.
ADSS (all-dielectric self-supporting) contains no metal. It installs directly on utility poles. It is lightning-proof and interference-resistant. OPGW (optical fiber composite overhead ground wire) combines lightning protection and communication functions. This is the standard for 110kV and above high-voltage transmission lines. For indoor types, GJFJV tight buffer cable is flexible and flame-retardant for equipment room wiring. The butterfly drop cable (GJXH) is the standard FTTH drop cable.

All products strictly follow GB/T7424 and IEC 60794 standards. Fiber counts range from 1 to 288 cores. Outdoor working temperature is -40 to +70°C. Design service life exceeds 30 years.
