Robust Power Transmission for Medium and High Voltage Networks
High tension electric cables are critical equipment for urban underground main power transmission, large factory substation interconnections, renewable energy station step-up transmission, and power grid trunk lines. These cables handle voltage levels from 3.6kV to 220kV and above. They have extremely strict requirements for insulation performance, mechanical strength, and long-term operational stability. Anhui Tiankang's high tension electric cables use cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation as the core technology. We cover two major voltage levels: 6-35kV medium-high voltage and 110/220kV extra-high voltage. All products strictly follow GB/T 12706, GB/T 22078, IEC 60840, and IEC 62067 standards.
The internal structure of high tension cables is much more complex than low voltage cables. Each layer has a clear functional purpose. The innermost layer is the compact stranded conductor (copper or aluminum). Large cross-sections use segmented conductor structures to reduce skin effect and heating. Outside the conductor are the inner semi-conductive shielding layer (even electric field distribution), XLPE main insulation layer (high voltage resistance, aging resistance, very low dielectric loss), outer semi-conductive shielding layer (balances insulation surface electric field), and metallic shielding layer (copper tape or copper wire, carries short-circuit current and shields electric field).
High tension electric cable products for 110kV and above extra-high voltage require corrugated aluminum or lead sheaths as radial waterproof layers. These prevent moisture ingress into the insulation. Moisture significantly accelerates XLPE insulation aging. The outermost layer is the outer sheath (PE weather-resistant or LSZH low-smoke halogen-free). Steel tape armor (direct burial compression resistance) or steel wire armor (shaft tensile strength) can be added as needed.


Voltage Levels and Model Selection
For 6-35kV medium-high voltage cables, YJV/YJLV (copper/aluminum core non-armored), YJV22/YJLV22 (steel tape armored direct burial), and YJV32 (steel wire armored vertical installation) are the main models. These are widely used in industrial park power distribution, wind and solar PV step-up transformer stations, urban ring network cabinets, and factory main distribution rooms. The cables come in single-core and three-core configurations.
For 110/220kV extra-high voltage cables, YJLW03 (corrugated aluminum sheath) and YJQ03 (lead sheath) are the representative models. All are single-core designs. Three-core designs have unbalanced electric fields and are not suitable for extra-high voltage. Cross-sections range from 400mm² to 2500mm². These cables require dedicated GIS terminals, porcelain terminals, and intermediate joints. They are the only choice for urban underground main transmission and large power station outgoing lines.
Quality Control and Export Documentation
Our high tension cable production line uses advanced catenary or vertical tower cross-linking production lines. All products undergo partial discharge testing before shipment. No partial discharge is the lifeline of high tension cables. We also perform heat cycle testing and voltage withstand testing. Extra-high voltage cables require full-process cleanliness control. There must be no impurities or bubbles in the insulation layer. Export shipments include IEC standard test reports, CE certification, and power industry qualification documents.
