Reliable Flow Measurement for Conductive Liquids

 

Wastewater, slurry, chemical acids and alkalis, and seawater present a challenge for traditional mechanical flow meters. These fluids cause wear, blockage, or excessive pressure drops. Anhui Tiankang's electromagnetic digital flow meter (LD series) works on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. When a conductive liquid flows through a magnetic field, it generates an induced voltage across electrodes. This voltage is directly proportional to the flow velocity. The measuring tube has no flow restriction elements or moving parts. There is almost no pressure loss. The meter cannot be blocked or worn by solid particles in the media.

The electromagnetic digital flow meter is ideal for dirty fluids like wastewater, slurry, and mineral pulp. However, the media must be conductive. The liquid conductivity must be ≥5μS/cm. This covers most industrial wastewater, acid and alkaline solutions, seawater, and paper pulp. The meter cannot measure non-conductive media like pure water, oils, or gases.

Electromagnetic digital flow meter lining material selection depends on the application. Rubber lining is low-cost and wear-resistant. It suits wastewater and slurry at standard temperatures (≤70°C). PTFE/F46/PFA lining offers excellent corrosion resistance. It withstands strong acids and alkalis at temperatures up to 180°C. This is the first choice for chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Electrode material is equally critical. 316L suits most neutral liquids. Titanium resists seawater and chloride corrosion. Hastelloy and tantalum electrodes serve highly corrosive chemical media.

Three Structure Types for Different Installations

 

The integrated type (LD) combines the sensor and converter in one unit. This provides on-site display of instantaneous and cumulative flow. Wiring is simple. This type is suitable for small and medium-diameter pipelines. The remote type (LDF) suits high-temperature media (converter located away from heat), buried installations, or wet environments. The sensor has IP68 protection (submersible). Signal transmission distance reaches up to 100 meters.

For large-diameter main pipelines above DN300, the insertion type (LDW) allows hot-tap installation without stopping production. The installation cost is much lower than full-bore flow meters. This type is the economical choice for water supply and drainage main pipelines. All structures are available with flameproof type (LDX, ExdⅡCT6) for chemical and oil and gas hazardous areas.

Standards and Export Certification

 

All products strictly follow JB/T 9248 and ISO 6817 standards. Accuracy is 0.5% (high precision) or 1.0% (industrial general). The diameter range is DN10 to DN2000. Pressure ratings are PN10/16/25/40. Export shipments include ANSI 150# flanges. Output signals are 4-20mA and pulse totalization as standard. RS485 Modbus and HART communications are optional. Power supply options are AC220V or DC24V.

Each flow meter comes with a factory flow calibration certificate. Export shipments include CE (LVD+EMC+PED+RoHS) certification and ATEX/IECEx explosion-proof certificates.
