Precision Level Measurement for Demanding Applications

 

Crude oil storage tanks, chemical reactors, high-temperature and high-pressure vessels, and large powder silos require highly reliable level measurement. Accuracy and reliability directly affect production safety and inventory management. Ultrasonic level meters often lose signals in foam, steam, or dusty conditions. Ordinary capacitive level meters perform poorly with low dielectric constant media. Anhui Tiankang's guided wave radar level meter (TWR series) sends high-frequency microwave pulses down a steel cable or steel rod probe. The microwaves travel along the probe to the media surface and reflect back to the transmitter. The microwaves are guided by the probe. They are not affected by steam, foam, dust, agitators, or internal obstructions. Measurement is extremely stable. Accuracy is ±1 to 3mm, far better than ultrasonic level meters.

The guided wave radar level meter offers three probe structures based on range and conditions. The rod type (TWR-B) uses a rigid stainless steel probe. The range is 0 to 6 meters. It suits small diameter vessels, reactors, viscous liquids, and coating-prone applications. The construction is sturdy and durable. The cable type (TWR-C) uses a flexible steel cable. Maximum range is 35 meters. This is the first choice for large storage tanks, tall towers, and large silos.

Guided wave radar level meter products also include the coaxial tube type (TWR-T). This uses an inner and outer tube structure. The microwave signal receives the most protection. It suits low dielectric constant media (like light oils and liquefied gas) and high-pressure sealed vessels. Signal stability is the best among the three types. All three probe structures are available with PTFE coating or Hastelloy materials for corrosive media.

Broad Applicability and High Performance

 

The guided wave radar level meter has a very low dielectric constant requirement. Media with ε≥1.5 are measurable. This includes not only water and acid/alkaline solutions, but also light oils and liquefied gas. Temperature resistance reaches 300°C. Pressure resistance can be customized above PN40. Features include tank bottom tracking, false echo suppression, and liquid level layer identification. Sticky, scaling media are not the best application for guided wave radar. Long-term coating will attenuate the microwave signal. However, the excellent anti-interference capability makes it the preferred choice for high-demand level measurement in chemical, refining, and power industries.

Standards and Export Certification

 

All products strictly follow JB/T 10638 standards. Output is 4-20mA HART protocol as standard. This carries both digital and analog signals simultaneously. RS485 Modbus and relay alarms are optional. Process connection is M20×1.5 thread or flange standard. Export shipments include NPT threads and ANSI flanges. Explosion-proof rating is ExdⅡCT6 for all hazardous areas. Each guided wave radar level meter includes a complete factory test report. Export shipments include CE certification, ATEX/IECEx explosion-proof certificates, and ISO17025 calibration reports.
