The Quality Supervision Administration recently announced that it will team up with multiple departments to carry out quality supervision on power grid equipment and materials, covering 21 types of products including wires and cables. Power grid equipment and materials are the foundation of national grid projects like urban distribution networks and rural power grids, and their quality directly affects the safety and stability of the grid system, which in turn has a direct impact on the healthy and rapid development of our country's economy.
To effectively carry out the quality supervision action for power equipment materials, the Product Quality Supervision Department of the General Administration of Quality Supervision has decided, together with the China Water Conservancy and Electric Power Quality Management Association, the Material Department of the State Grid Corporation, and the Material Department of China Southern Power Grid Corporation, to hold a kickoff meeting for the grid equipment materials quality supervision action in Beijing on 15 September to launch and organise the related work.
This quality supervision action focused on 21 common power grid equipment and material products including transformers, switches, capacitors, lightning arresters, arc suppression coils, box-type substations, wires and cables, towers, fittings, and insulators. Random on-site inspections were conducted on winning bidders from the past two years of the State Grid Corporation and China Southern Power Grid, as well as the testing agencies that issued product inspection reports for the winning bidders, covering eight provinces and cities including Hebei, Jiangsu, Anhui, Guangdong, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Beijing, and Shanghai.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision has made it clear that inspection agencies and companies that issue false reports will be dealt with by local quality supervision authorities according to relevant regulations. For companies with poor management or whose actual product specifications differ significantly from what they promised to the public and users, the State Grid and China Southern Power Grid will take this into account during the bidding process, and for serious cases, it is suggested to suspend awarding contracts and, depending on the situation, publish the list publicly. Local quality supervision departments will dynamically adjust quality credit and product quality classification levels.
