Common measures include equipment selection, thermal insulation and heat tracing, and maintenance (such as routine inspections and condensate draining).


Selection Measures
Select instruments equipped with thermal insulation features. Determine insulation and freeze-protection requirements based on the instrument's type, intended use, and installation location, then coordinate with the manufacturer to procure the appropriate model.
In some northern regions, the diurnal temperature range is extreme, with nighttime temperatures dropping below -20°C; relying solely on equipment selection to address this is often not cost-effective. Instead, consider.


Thermal Insulation Measures
Apply thermal insulation materials to wrap the parts of the instrument susceptible to freezing. Before winter arrives, inspect the setup and perform regular condensate draining; also, ensure the insulation material remains intact and undamaged.


Heat Tracing Measures
Steam Heat Tracing
This involves using steam lines to maintain temperature. Before supplying steam for winter insulation, check the steam tracing lines to ensure they are clear and free of blockages. Ideally, steam should flow continuously 24 hours a day, though the supply volume should be adjusted based on weather conditions. This prevents temperatures from becoming too high-which could vaporize condensate in the transmitter's impulse lines and disrupt operation-or too low-which could freeze the condensate and block the lines.
